When I was but a young lad
I knew what I would be
Strong and wise and popular
As successful as could be.
A dentist with a big house
Boats and cars and toys
My “wife” already picked out
Three girls and two boys
Then suns flowed past
And sparkling days of blue
As did black starry nights
The moons phased through
Jobs and joys, and trials came
Til the day she left
From then til now, nothing the same
Except me, totally bereft
